Bio
Artist - Jourdean S. Lorah
Artist, Jourdean S. Lorah was born and raised in Washington, D.C. During Jourdean’s early years, she was mentored by George B. Speidel, an artist with the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. This mentorship included, drawing, painting sculpture, photography and the use of various craft materials for development. At the age of seven, Jourdean was photographed at random under her family name “Jody”, in Glover Park in the District of Columbia. The random photography is on a reel in The Martin Luther King Library located in Washington, D.C.
During Jourdean’s teen years, she was trained to be a model, both formally on the runway and informally in department stores. Her achievements in physical performance as a majorette was achieved through the NBTA individual competitions and group corp training
In 1995, Ms. Lorah studied Art History and worked on many drawings and compositions in Rome, Italy. Today, Jody or Jourdean S. Lorah is a licensed artist continuing her development through painting, pen & ink contour drawings, pastel compositions, sculpture, photography, craft and sterling silver jewelry design. Each year when possible, Ms. Lorah participates in fine art shows of different categories at The Rehoboth Art League in Delaware. These categories include, fine art, craft, member’s art exhibits and photography. Most of Jourdean’s work is still life, using a realistic approach and nature reflecting in life naturally.
Jourdean’s education is comprised of a degree in science, a law certificate as a paralegal and a second degree in Liberal Arts which has not been completed. Many positions that Ms. Lorah has been involved with are, Architecture/Illustrator, Draftsman, Surveying, Interior Design in both residential and commercial planning and design, Marketing, Therapeutic Health and Teaching.
In the future, Jourdean will be focusing on technically building a stronger foundation to display more of her fine art as she supports the life skills of three orphan children. Currently, Ms. Lorah’s fine art is on display at Jardinfineart@gmail.com and at The Rehoboth Art League in Delaware.
